What can we as citizens do to stop the campaign season from starting so early?

Boycott the media whenever they try to shove it in our faces early?

Wish I knew.

Part of it is, we don't call the media on their treatment of campaigns as horse-races -- ';who's ahead?'; What they SHOULD do is not tell us who's going to win, but what we need to know to vote.

Maybe I was right. Boycott the media, and use the sources that are now available on the Grand Series of Tubes know as the Internets.

Blogs, informational sites, etc.

If we stopped listening to their mindless blather, they'd go away. What can we as citizens do to stop the campaign season from starting so early?
I think the reason it has started so early is because people are so unhappy with the current leadership (or lack of it). We need to see a light at the end of the tunnelWhat can we as citizens do to stop the campaign season from starting so early?
Nothing. Freedom of speech.

Candidates can start campaigning a decade before the elections if they want.

The most we can do is tell candidates that we don't want them campaigning early, and hope popular opinion will have an effect.
It's not really that early, if you think about it....the campagin now is to win the nomination for the particular party. It is almost unbearable, all of the ads...but what is fun to watch is the candidates from the same party trash each other, and then when one is selected, and he chooses a running mate, then that person is the best person in the world......do they think we don't notice this stuff?
It is easy, do not go vote in the primaries. When no one shows up it tell them we want the process changed, they will ask questions and find out that we hate the year long process of campaigning. We can also start to email everyone in office and those running that we want it shorter, nice and neat.

When enough people do this they will have to pay attention.
