Can we start the ';Made in America'; campaign again?

What positive effects do you think this will have? Can we start the ';Made in America'; campaign again?
I simply CANNOT BELIEVE the responses I'm reading on here!

Folks, you can blame the ';union boogeyman'; till the cows come home, THAT isn't what has ';priced out'; American companies into going overseas.

How long have Unions been in existence? Much, much longer than companies have been outsourcing.

How long have companies been moving overseas? Now put that alongside the graph of CEO salaries rising over the past 10 years of so.

THERE is the problem ---%26gt; PURE GREED.

Shame on each and every one of you screaming about WORKER's salaries.

Shame on each and every one of you who say they won't PAY MORE for an American-made product.

Let me point out the obvious:

IF AMERICANS WERE GETTING PAID A LIVING WAGE, THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO BE SCRAPING PENNIES TOGETHER TO BUY STUFF, NOW WOULD THEY?

And besides, like somebody's already pointed out, most of that plastic crap is cheaply made fluff you don't need to begin with.

MADE IN AMERICA!

HOW PATRIOTIC ARE YOU....REALLY?Can we start the ';Made in America'; campaign again?
To late, the price of American labor has priced the U.S. out of the international, as well as the local Market
Rajin, for once I'm very happy to agree with you.

blueridge: Amen sister!!!!
are you asking about weapons, lies ,Conspiracy

made at America
Here is a link to help find some Made in USA products.

I think our country would be stronger if we manufactured more of our own goods. If we REALLY needed to go to war in a massive mobilization such as a World War, would we be able to provide all the goods that would be needed if our imports were cut? And the food?
I find it amazing that Americans don't support Americans. Is it because our economy is so bad that we can't afford anything made here? Are our wages so low now that we have to buy things made by people that earn $1 an hour? Are we looking at Americans making a $1 an hour to compete? Is that where we're headed? It looks that way.

Meanwhile corperations are making record profits.

Blueridgelivin.....me either!
Nah, it would scare the freepers too much. They would think it was a communist plot.
I would love too...The only problem is, the manufacturing base has left the country. In the rush to eliminate the middle class in this country, the elites have turned us into a managerial/service society. We could protest, but I doubt you can even buy your Fruit of the Looms, unless they're from Honduras.
grips, you describe WHY this question was asked, you didn;t actually answer it. That's why I gave you a thumbs down. And yes, I think we need to get back to 'made in america' and not just the saying 'made in america' printed on a ribbon made in China stuck to the back of your honda
Yes, I'd absolutely support a reinvigorating the 'Made in America' campaign. There's nothing more fundamentally American than buying American. There are really no negatives in the long run. I'll go you one further and say that we also need to export more than we import. We need to find ways to get the world to also buy American.
Grips--Chrysler was sold back to an American company recently

I would think a made in America campaign would do well. I think a lot of America is ignorant to the huge amount that we are globalized. Which has good benefits, but I don't like our economy being linked to so many others. I'd rather have control of our economy and lead the way instead of being dragged down while lifting them up.
Fast food isn't made in the USA either. They are the largest importers of S. American beef and other products.

The first step to buying USA is to buy as much locally produced food as possible. The biggest threat to you (not the economy) is food produced in countries that have no standards for its production. The Chinese recently made this point obvious but many, many other countries have similar, or more severe, problems with health and safety standards for food.

Aside from foods, you cannot avoid all foreign made products. You can try to buy USA wherever possible however. Do not purchase products that are foreign made unless there is no alternative. Shop around and find stores that carry US made products.

It is important to note that I say buy USA because Made in America can be anywhere in America. It could be Canada, Mexico, or S. America.

For those of you that think unions are responsible for the flight of US companies, would you want to work under the conditions that the people in these foreign countries do? That is how you, as a laborer, would have to compete with these workers. 18 hour days for $40 per month? No decent working conditions, etc. That is what corporations want from their workers.
Our largest retailers thrive because nothing is made in America. Do you think American's care if less than 2 % of items sold in WalMart aren't made here? I'm wondering where I can find anything made in the USA besides fast food..
Only if we're allowed to put ';Made in America'; on goods imported from China.

Man, this is international community now. Autos are made by Japanese companies in America. French companies produce electronic goods in America. A lot of products we can't even afford to buy if they were produced in America (shoes and textiles come to mind). Heck, even Chryler is owned by a German company.

Daniel F %26amp; Bill N------from the number on 'DOWN THUMBS'; we've got it looks like people weren't really looking for good, honest answers, they were just looking for someone to agree with them.

RajinCajin-----There are 300 million Americans (and a lot of illegals) living in the U.S. A lot of those people are barely scrapping by. How do you propose organizing them to ';Buy American'; only? Run a few public service announcements on TV?
Frankly, I am not going to buy something because union labor has made it too expensive but it's ';Made in America';--I used to think that way, but now half the stuff that's ';made in America'; is assembled in America from Korean (or Chinese or Mexican or fill-in-the-blank'; parts, so I'm just looking for quality and price.
Can you afford to buy ';made in America'; between the unions, mim. wage, etc. the cost is usally 3 times higher, are YOU willing to pay $9.00 for what you can get for $3.00
